Hazbin Hotel season 2
Amazon
An excellent show has hit Amazon that’s gotten a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score, at least so far. It’s the second season of the animated series, one definitely worth checking out, regardless of interest in animation.
This is Hazbin Hotel season 2, a show that originated on YouTube in 2019, but came to Amazon Prime Video in January 2024. Now, almost two years later, season 2 has arrived, and at least from a limited number of critics, has so far amassed perfect scores.
The show has unique animation to match its unique concept, and here’s the synopsis of the series:
“Hazbin Hotel follows Charlie, the princess of Hell, as she pursues her seemingly impossible goal of rehabilitating demons to peacefully reduce overpopulation in her kingdom. After a yearly extermination imposed by angels, she opens a hotel in the hopes that patrons will be “checking out” into Heaven. While most of Hell mocks her goal, her devoted partner Vaggie, and their first test subject, adult-film star Angel Dust, stick by her side. When a powerful entity known as the “Radio Demon” reaches out to assist Charlie in her endeavors, her crazy dream is given a chance to become a reality.”
A lot going on there, but it’s a solid series where season 1 got a certified fresh 78% critic score and an 86% audience score. Even if the 100% score dips a bit, it’s likely to stay high. So far, the audience scores are matching season 1.
Hazbin Hotel season 2
Amazon
So, niche program? No, not at all. Right now, Hazbin Hotel is the #1 series on Amazon Prime, besting the recently wrapped Gen V and beating out new series Harlan Coben’s Lazarus. It’s also above the mega-popular Dark Wolf, which racked up big viewership for its debut season. Hazbin Hotel has a large amount of dedicated fans, and they are ready to dip back in for more after this lengthy two-year wait.
This is not a binge drop. Hazbin Hotel season 2 arrived with a double-episode premiere earlier this week and is going to keep doing double drops every Wednesday, with the next one on November 5. Season 2, like season 1, will be eight episodes long. With 25-minute episodes, you can catch up on season one in less than four hours, if you haven’t seen the show so far.
It’s great to see Hazbin Hotel return to such great scores, and yes, the show will return for seasons 3 and 4, confirmed all the way back in July 2024.
