Blackpink’s Jisoo Reaches A New Career Peak, With Help From A Global Pop Star

Blackpink is known the world over as the most successful K-pop girl group of all time. The band is so famous and so beloved that all four members — Jennie, Rosé, Lisa, and Jisoo — have also embarked on solo careers. Jisoo was the last to do so, and is still the only one who has yet to release a full-length album.

While no announcement has been made, the K-pop superstar recently delivered a new single on her own titled “Eyes Closed.” The collaboration with former One Direction star Zayn reaches lofty positions on the charts in the United Kingdom thanks to both her popularity and his homegrown fandom, and it helps the Blackpink musician climb to a new career peak on the most important ranking in the nation.

What Is Jisoo’s Highest-Charting Solo Song?

“Eyes Closed” hits four tallies across the Atlantic this frame, including the Official Singles chart, which ranks the most consumed songs across the U.K. The collaborative cut starts at No. 37 on the list, instantly becoming another top 40 success for Jisoo and Zayn.

Jisoo manages to best her previous career peak, which she reached in April 2023, when “Flower” – her only other solo hit on the tally – grew as high as No. 38, a position “Eyes Closed” beats by just one rung.

What Are Blackpink’s Biggest Hits?

As a member of Blackpink, Jisoo has soared to even loftier spots on the Official Singles chart on multiple occasions. The group’s biggest hit remains “Sour Candy,” a team-up with Lady Gaga that danced its way to No. 17. Several other cuts, including recent drop “Jump” and “How You Like That,” which stalled at Nos. 18 and 20, respectively, have also found space inside the top 20 on the Official Singles roster.

Jisoo’s “Eyes Closed” Arrives as a Strong Seller

“Eyes Closed” performs even better on two purchase-centric tallies in the U.K. The collaboration appears highest on the Official Singles Downloads chart at No. 16 and simultaneously launches three spaces further south on the busier Official Singles Sales list. Unlike on the Official Singles chart, those are not new high points for Jisoo, who has claimed twice as many successes on the sales tallies as on the main songs list.

Jisoo and Zayn Chart a Top-Streaming Smash

“Eyes Closed” also manages to reach the Official Streaming chart, the list of the most successful individual tunes across the U.K. on platforms like Spotify, Amazon, Apple Music, and others. On that ranking, the cut starts at No. 83, missing the No. 54 high point that “Flower” managed when it arrived in the spring of 2023 by dozens of spaces, despite the inclusion of Zayn.

Zayn’s History of Solo Hits

For Zayn, “Eyes Closed” is another hit — and his first this year — but by no means his biggest. “Eyes Closed” brings him back to the Official Singles chart for the first time since March 2024, and it marks his first top 40 winner since a year before that, when “Love Like This” climbed to No. 36.

On the Official Singles Downloads tally, Zayn collects his biggest smash since “Dusk Till Dawn,” a collaboration with Sia that reached No. 5 in 2017. Over on the Official Singles Sales list, “Eyes Closed” matches the No. 19 high point that “Let Me” climbed to in the spring of 2018.

Is Jisoo Releasing a Solo Album?

“Eyes Closed” marks Jisoo’s first solo release since she dropped her debut EP Amortage on Valentine’s Day. That short effort was led by the single “Earthquake,” which missed the main songs roster in the U.K., but did sell well enough to appear on a few secondary rankings.

For the moment, “Eyes Closed” appears to be a standalone single, although it could be the first taste of an upcoming EP or even a complete album by Jisoo — though the timing is a bit complicated, as Blackpink’s new era began this summer with the electronic dance banger “Jump,” and is likely to continue with more new music soon.
