The Israeli military said it struck targets inside Gaza after accusing Palestinian militant group Hamas of “blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement” that went into effect last week, while officials told the New York Times and Associated Press they would also suspend humanitarian aid entering the territory “until further notice.”

Earlier on Sunday, the Israeli Defense Forces said the strikes began after fighters fired an anti-tank missile and other weapons at Israeli troops in Rafah, the border city in southern Gaza—a move the Israeli military called a “blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement.”
The strikes targeted “weapons storage facilities, firing posts, terrorist cells” and infrastructure, including 6 kilometers of tunnels, the IDF said in another statement on Sunday.
At least 19 people were killed in the strikes, the Associated Press reported citing local health authorities.
In statements provided to the AP and Reuters, Hamas said it was out of contact with fighters in Rafah and remained committed to the ceasefire.
Israel was also suspending shipments of humanitarian aid into the territory “until further notice,” both the New York Times and Associated Press reported citing officials given anonymity until an official announcement.
