Currently, the only way you can see Black Phone 2 is in theaters, so check your local listings for showtimes.

When Black Phone 2 comes to the home entertainment marketplace, the first place it will be available is on digital streaming via premium video on demand. Black Phone 2’s studio, Universal Pictures, typically has an 18-day to one-month window between the time its films open in theaters and arrive on PVOD.

For example, the studio’s sports-themed horror movie HIM arrived on PVOD on Oct. 7, just 18 days after the film was released in theaters on Sept. 19. Before that, the crime comedy Nobody 2 debuted on PVOD on Sept. 2, 18 days after its Aug. 15 theatrical release.

However, the studio’s summer blockbuster hit Jurassic World Rebirth, which opened in theaters on July 2, didn’t arrive on PVOD until just over a month later, on Aug. 5.

If Black Phone 2 follows the same release pattern as the titles listed above, that means it should arrive on PVOD sometime between Nov. 4 and Nov. 18, since new titles typically debut on digital streaming on Tuesdays.

When Black Phone 2 comes to PVOD, it will be available for purchase or rent on such digital platforms as Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Prime Video and YouTube. Typically, new PVOD titles cost anywhere from $19.99 to $29.99 to purchase and $14.99 to $24.99 to rent for a 48-hour period.

Which Streaming Service Will Get ‘Black Phone 2’ First?

Since Black Phone 2 is a Universal Pictures release, it will first be available on streaming video on demand on NBC Universal’s Peacock streaming platform.

Generally, there’s a three to four month window between the time Universal Pictures’ films open in theaters to the time they begin streaming on Peacock.

For example, the summer horror comedy M3GAN 2.0 debuted on Peacock on Sept. 26, just shy of three months after it opened in theaters on June 27. However, another Universal summer release— the live-action version of the adventure fantasy How to Train Your Dragon — arrived on Peacock on Oct. 10, nearly four months after it opened in theaters on June 13.
