Huobi Founder Leads $1 Billion Ethereum Trust With Top Asian Investors

In Brief

  • Li Lin partners with leading Asian investors to launch a $1B Ethereum trust.
  • The consortium may become one of the top four global ETH treasury holders.
  • Analysts see ETH at $7K by 2026 and $20K by 2030 despite near-term weakness.

Huobi founder Li Lin is leading a consortium of prominent Asian investors to launch a $1 billion Ethereum trust. The initiative aims to accumulate and hold ETH as a long-term treasury asset amid growing institutional interest.

Li’s Hong Kong-based Avenir Capital has partnered with Fenbushi Capital’s Shen Bo, HashKey Group CEO Xiao Feng, and Meitu founder Cai Wensheng. The group plans to form a digital asset trust through a Nasdaq-listed acquisition structure.

The consortium has already secured about $1 billion in commitments, including $200 million from Avenir Capital. Regional institutional players, led by HongShan Capital Group, have pledged an additional $500 million, with final talks still underway.

The planned vehicle will operate similarly to existing corporate ETH treasuries such as BitMine and SharpLink Gaming. If fully launched, it could rank among the four largest public Ethereum holders globally, according to Strategic ETH Reserve data.

Ethereum Outlook Strengthens Amid Market Uncertainty

Currently, Ethereum trades below $4,000, declining 3% amid the broader crypto market correction. Despite the pullback, major investors like Tom Lee’s BitMine and BlackRock continue accumulating ETH, reinforcing long-term optimism.

The proposed trust adds to the narrative of increasing institutional exposure to Ethereum. Analysts suggest such large-scale accumulation could stabilise ETH prices and deepen liquidity within global markets.

Market sentiment remains mixed, with Polymarket data showing higher odds of ETH reaching $3,000 than $5,000 in 2025. However, investment bank Citizens forecasts a bullish trajectory, projecting $7,000 by 2026 and $20,000 by 2030.

The announcement underscores renewed confidence in Ethereum’s long-term utility and its expanding role in institutional digital-asset portfolios.
