Hollywood Stars Reveal Whether They Think ‘All’s Fair’ In Love And War

Thursday night in West Hollywood, California felt like the west coast’s version of the Met Gala, as the new All’s Fair Hulu series cast showed up and out, dressed to the nines, while promoting their much-anticipated new drama series.

Led by powerhouse stars Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash-Betts, Sarah Paulson, Teyana Taylor and Glenn Close, the new Ryan Murphy Television production is about a team of female divorce attorneys who leave a male-dominated firm to start their own private practice.

Streaming November 4 on Hulu, the hot, new series already has plenty of momentum behind it, with the All’s Fair trailer making history as Hulu’s most-viewed trailer of all time.

In true Murphy fashion, All’s Fair has plenty of star-studded guest actors throughout the upcoming first season. Speaking with several of these celebrated artists on the red carpet at the DGA, I asked all of these featured talent the same age-old question, on-theme with this new show: All’s fair in love and war – agree or disagree?

Nash-Betts, who stars as Emerald Greene on All’s Fair, said, “Is it all fair? It may not be – but sometimes, it’s necessary.”

Longtime actress Judith Light joins the cast of All’s Fair in a guest starring role. She said, “I think there are complications and sidebars that have to be addressed. It can’t be just one thing. It’s not just black-and-white. There are shades of gray.”

Actor James Remar, remembered for playing Kim Cattrall’s love interest on Sex and the City, now joins All’s Fair in a guest starring role. He responded to my question with, “I don’t know if all’s fair in either one. There’s such a thing as war crimes and there’s such a thing as cheating in love. So, no – people make mistakes and if you have an enemy and you’re at war with them – once you beat them, you raise them up. You don’t squish them.”

Actress Grace Gummer joins the All’s Fair cast in a guest starring role, as well, playing a character who seeks legal assistance from these power player women. She said when asked if all’s fair in love and war, “I don’t know. Maybe in love? I don’t know about war.”

Actor O-T Fagbenle plays a love interest of Watts’s character Liberty Ronson on All’s Fair. He said to my question, “Disagree, no. There has to be levels. There is morality in both love and war. There are love crimes and war crimes.”

Actress Lorraine Toussaint, who will guest star on the Hulu drama series, said, “I don’t agree all’s fair in love and war. Not at all. We are seeing so many wars around the world, that I am so torn by the sides of the issues. All is not fair, and fair is not a word at all to be associated with the wars that we’re witnessing around the globe right now.”

Music superstar Jessica Simpson joins All’s Fair in a guest starring role, playing a client in-need of these leading divorce attorneys, as she takes on her husband, played by “Jessie’s Girl” rocker Rick Springfield. When asked whether she thinks all’s fair in love and war, Simpson concluded these conversations by telling me, “If you make it fair on your own! With my character in the show, it was not going to ever be fair, so she gets revenge. I’m not very good at revenge in real life, other than it being quiet and just being confident and looking fabulous. I don’t think much is fair in life, but we can make it fair. We go through things for a reason and perseverance is a beautiful thing, and with perseverance is the confidence to get through it even better the next time.”
