Mike Perry Destroys Jeremy Stephens – BKFC 82 Results

Highlights

  • Mike Perry stops Jeremy Stephens at 1:35 of Round 5 after six knockdowns
  • Perry retains his King of Violence status despite Conor McGregor’s jabs
  • Event overshadowed UFC 320 on the same night, but still delivered chaos

“Platinum” Mike Perry re-established himself as the “King of Violence” on Saturday night in New Jersey. Perry shook off trash talk from Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship co-owner Conor McGregor and he absolutely punished Jeremy Stephens en route to a brutal fifth-round TKO.

The end came at the 1:35 mark of the fifth round. Perry dropped Stephens six times and quite honestly, this one probably should have been stopped after the second or third knockdown. Here is a look at the brutal finish.

After the fight, several combat sports fans took to social media to react. Exciting UFC fighter Terrance McKinney showed some love to Perry for his win.

BKFC posted these scenes from the finish.

Quite honestly, these guys’ frames were a bit too far apart for my liking. Perry has fought as heavy as 185 pounds while Stephens competed mostly at 145 pounds. On Saturday, he looked like the smaller man being battered by someone who was too big and strong.

The co-main event for the show was supposed to feature UFC Hall-of-Famer Frankie Edgar taking on Jimmie Rivera. Edgar was blocked from fighting after not getting the OK from medical officials. Rivera stayed on the card, stopped Edgar replacement Timmy Mason, and then retired from competition after winning by TKO.

Edgar’s absence took a lot out of the event as the HOFer’s presence adding some much-needed name recognition to the event. Nonetheless, every fight ended in a finish and MMA fans might recognize some of the names.

Most notably, Perry, Stephens, Rivera, Bamgbose and Roberson (who competed while seemingly wearing an ankle monitor) have all fought in the UFC.

In any case, the show came up against UFC 320 tonight so it’ll be interesting to see how much interest combat sports fans show in the event.
