KuCoin Secures ISO 27701 Certification, Boosting User Trust

KuCoin has become certified on the ISO 27701 and SOC 2 Type II levels. This demonstrates that it is prepared to adapt to updated rules as additional regulations on crypto exchanges are implemented.

ISO 27701 Builds on KuCoin’s Security Framework and $2B Trust Project

Based on the press release, the certification builds on KuCoin’s previous ISO 27001:2022 recognition for information security. It also included the SOC 2 Type II for operational controls. Together, these certifications give the exchange a layered approach to data protection, compliance, and platform reliability.

ISO 27701 had to do with the way companies deal with personal data in a responsible manner. In the case of KuCoin, it will involve stricter regulations on collection, use, storage and deletion of user information.

The crypto exchange said this step is aligned with its $2 billion Trust Project launched earlier this year. That initiative aims to expand transparency, regulatory cooperation, and infrastructure resilience across KuCoin’s global platform. By securing ISO 27701, KuCoin is strengthening the platform’s credibility and its promise to protect sensitive user data.

The certification follows tougher regulations for crypto exchanges instituted by regulators across the globe. KuCoin demonstrates that it is prepared to adhere to regulatory standards across the globe. In the U.S., the SEC and CFTC have opened the door to spot crypto trading, underscoring how oversight in this sector is rapidly evolving.

KuCoin explained that privacy controls are now embedded across its global operations. Data protection encompasses all the data collection process, including the dispossession of data. It encrypts, scans internally, masks data, and breach emergency plans.

Tools such as Data Protection Impact Assessment and purchase of services reviews were also added to KuCoin. The company said it sees this as essential for user confidence and for competing with top platforms like Coinbase and Binance.

KuCoin Strengthens Privacy Framework to Enable User Control and Meet Regulations

Alexis Niu, KuCoin’s global data protection officer, called the achievement a key advancement. She said the certification confirms KuCoin’s end-to-end data controls, risk assessments, and responsive safeguards against breaches. She added that the certification shows privacy is a central part of KuCoin’s user trust strategy.

Niu further noted that KuCoin’s privacy framework empowers users by giving them stronger control over their personal information. The exchange has also streamlined responses to data subject rights requests through its applications and support services.

Also, KuCoin stated that these developments are part of a broader plan to prepare for evolving regulatory demands. The UK and US are also moving to align crypto regulations, highlighting the global push toward consistent oversight in the digital asset sector.

In addition, the company said privacy and compliance will be key factors in building a secure and sustainable global ecosystem for digital assets.
