On Friday (September 26), Doja Cat released her brand new album Vie. Once the set’s first full tracking frame of availability has finished, it will likely earn lofty debuts on a number of Billboard charts, perhaps even bringing the Grammy winner back to the highest reaches of multiple albums rankings.
Before Vie has a chance to land on any rankings in the United States, her star-making project Planet Her returns, and there’s a striking bit of coincidence attached to its comeback.
Planet Her Returns to the Billboard 200
Planet Her reappears on the Billboard 200 this week. That list ranks the most consumed albums and EPs in America using a methodology that blends both sales and streaming activity. This frame, Planet Her is back at No. 200, in last place. Coincidentally, the full-length has now spent exactly 200 weeks on the Billboard 200.
Which Doja Cat Albums Have Spent the Most Time on the Billboard 200?
Planet Her marks Doja’s first album to make it to 200 weeks on the Billboard 200. She’s placed four projects on the ranking in total, and three of them have managed to live on the list for at least a year.
Hot Pink stood as her longest-charting success for some time, as it racked up 155 stays on the tally – just one frame shy of three years. Scarlet, her most recent full-length before Vie, managed 53 turns on the ranking. Her debut, Amala, only held on for one month.
How Well Is Planet Her Selling vs. Streaming in 2025?
According to Luminate, in the most recent tracking frame in America, Planet Her shifted 8,600 equivalent units. Only 200 of those were actual purchases, while the rest came from streaming activity. The set is tied with Hot Pink as her highest-certified, as the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) has honored both titles with double platinum plaques.
Doja Cat Leans on “Jealous Type” as Vie Campaign Rolls Out
Doja is not pushing Planet Her right now, and the album returns thanks to all of the excitement around Vie. The singer and rapper is in full promotional mode at the moment in order to score the largest debut week possible with her latest, and a deluge of media coverage likely reminded many listeners in America of how much they love the full-length and the many singles featured on its track list, which helps it become a Billboard 200 charting success once more.
How Is Doja Cat’s “Jealous Type” Performing on the Charts?
Doja is pushing her current single “Jealous Type,” the only song shared from the new album before it arrived in full. The track has not become the breakout success that she is used to scoring, but Vie may produce other successes in the coming weeks and months as she continues to hype the project.
“Jealous Type” has so far peaked at No. 28 on the Hot 100, but it’s been climbing on various radio tallies as DJs and programmers put it into rotation.
Where Did Planet Her Peak on the Billboard 200?
Doja released Planet Her in the summer of 2021. By that point, she’d already scored hits and was noted as one of the hottest newcomers in the music industry, and the full-length turned her into a certified hitmaker. Planet Her peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and still stands as her highest placement on that tally to date.
How “Kiss Me More,” “Need to Know” and “Woman” Defined Planet Her
Planet Her was packed with singles, many of which became massive commercial wins. “Kiss Me More,” “You Right,” “Need to Know,” “Woman,” and “Get Into It (Yuh)” were all serviced as singles. Three of those broke into the top 10, with “Kiss Me More,” a collaboration with SZA, peaking at No. 3, while “Woman” and “Need to Know” stalled at No. 7 and No. 8, respectively.
Doja Cat’s History at the Grammys
Doja’s Planet Her era was a major awards magnet, as the project and the songs featured on it earned the superstar nine Grammy nominations across two ceremonies. The full-length was up for Album of the Year, and both “Kiss Me More” and “Woman” competed for Record of the Year. “Kiss Me More” ended up collecting Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, earning both Doja and SZA long-overdue trophies. So far, that win stands as Doja’s only Grammy, though SZA – who is also featured on Vie – has added to her collection since.
