This week, several crypto news headlines are in the pipeline and could move tokens within specific ecosystems.
Traders looking to position their portfolios strategically ahead of this week’s crypto news can front-run the following calendar events.
Sonic Summit Announcements
This week’s list of crypto news starts with the Sonic Summit, slated for Monday, September 29. Important announcements are expected. Sonic Labs announced Mitchell Demeter as its new CEO and Michael Kong’s transition to CIO after serving as CEO.

Demeter, known for co-creating the world’s first Bitcoin ATM and previously leading Sonic Strategy, will focus on expanding ecosystem adoption, strengthening institutional partnerships, and driving growth in the US and global markets.
“This marks an exciting new chapter for Sonic Labs as the company prepares for its next phase of global growth,” one user stated.
The change follows Sonic Labs’ rebranding from the Fantom Foundation, which reached a $1 billion market cap under Kong’s leadership since 2018.
Community members see it as a bullish leadership shake-up as the network pushes toward expanding ecosystem adoption, building stronger institutional partnerships, and driving growth in the US and global markets.
Following this news, Sonic’s powering token, S, leaped by almost 4% in the last 24 hours to trade for $0.2418 as of this writing.
Falcon Finance Token Launch
Another headline to watch is the launch of Falcon Finance’s FF token on Monday, September 29. In a recent post, the network announced the opening of wallet registration for claiming FF.

“To claim FF, register your wallet before September 28, 2025, 23:59 UTC. This step is mandatory. Wallets not registered by the deadline will be disqualified from claiming,” Falcon Finance indicated.
The token could realize increased activity upon launch. Still, investors should remain keen as price surges attributed to the token launch also correct as fast as traders cash in for early profits.
Ethereum’s Fusaka Upgrade Testnet
Ethereum community members have been awaiting the Fusaka Upgrade after the successful Pectra Upgrade earlier in the year.
This upgrade’s main goal is to improve scalability and lower costs for users and developers. While the upgrade itself is slated for December, the testnet will debut on Wednesday, October 1.
Tim Beiko, an Ethereum developer and community member, indicated that the Fusaka Upgrade will feature three testnets, Holesky, Sepolia, and Hoodi, all spread across October.

Notably, the Holešky testnet will be shut down two weeks after Fusaka finalizes it.
EtherFi Analyst Call
Another crypto news to watch this week is EtherFi’s analyst call, which is expected to bring significant announcements for ETHFI token holders.
EtherFi indicated that the event will include a fireside chat with BitMEX co-founder and former CEO, Arthur Hayes.
Given the crypto executive’s history with bold predictions for Bitcoin and altcoins, any similar remarks or inclinations for ETHFI could propel the token.
Notably, Hayes has been eyeing ETHFI, among other altcoins, recently remarking that it is one of the “must-buy” altcoins before Bitcoin hits $1 million.

$1.6 Billion FTC Creditor Distribution
As September nears its end, FTX creditors also come to the limelight, with a planned $1.6 billion distribution on Tuesday as the defunct exchange pushes toward making creditors whole.
The exchange noted that eligible creditors should expect to receive funds from their selected distribution service provider within 1 to 3 business days from September 30, 2025.
BeInCrypto reported that the distribution could fuel liquidity and spark a new altcoin season. Nevertheless, it is worth mentioning that the payout is $300 million less than July’s projection, raising concerns despite optimism about market momentum.
Still, the exchange urged customers to remain aware of phishing emails that may look like they are from FTX and scam sites from channels that look like the FTX Customer Portal.
With FTX creditor distributions barely 24 hours away, the FTT token was trading for $0.9628, up by almost 4% in the last 24 hours.
