- Bybit launches a 100,000 USDT reward campaign tied to ASTER trading activity.
Bybit has pushed back hard against social-media rumors of a massive security breach, while moving ahead with the debut of ASTER, a new token born from the merger of Astherus and APX Finance.
Hack Rumors Quickly Quashed
The denial came after posts on Xiaohongshu, a Chinese social media platform, claimed the exchange had been hacked and lost Ethereum (ETH) valued at $1.5 billion.
Bybit responded within hours. The exchange said all assets remain secure and that its industry-grade security systems are intact. It warned users to rely only on official channels for updates. The quick denial was critical; if left unchecked, the rumor could have damaged market confidence during a week of high volatility.
ASTER Gets First Listing on Bybit
Despite the noise, Bybit proceeded with its planned ASTER listing. On September 21, deposits opened at 08:00 UTC, with spot trading for the ASTER/USDT pair going live at 09:30 UTC. Withdrawals are set to follow on September 22 at 10:00 UTC.
Bybit became the first major exchange to list ASTER, giving it an edge over competitors. The token, tied to the Binance network and backed by affiliates including CZ, has been under watch since its launch. In Q3 2025 alone, ASTER generated more than $6 million in revenue, a sign of growing traction in DeFi.
100,000 USDT Reward Campaign
To boost participation, Bybit introduced a promotional campaign with a total reward pool of 100,000 USDT. The campaign, which is divided into two phases, runs from September 21 to September 29.
The first phase targets new users, allocating 50,000 USDT to participants who complete verification, deposit the required assets, and execute a qualifying trade. The second phase is open to all users and involves trading at least 500 USDT worth of ASTER on the spot market, with individual rewards capped at 800 USDT.
