Binance Founder CZ Warns Altcoin Projects About Hacking Incidents, Reveals Four Most Used Methods

CZ, the founder and former CEO of Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, made important statements.

CZ, sharing from his X account, warned cryptocurrency projects about North Korean hacker threats.

CZ stated that North Korean hacker groups use advanced methods in hacking attacks and explained four common tactics they use.

These include “posing as job applicants for development/security/finance positions, sending malware disguised as updates or code during interviews, embedding malicious links in support requests, and bribing employees or suppliers for data.”

“They exploit trust, creativity, and patience to infiltrate platforms and steal user funds,” CZ said, urging cryptocurrency platforms to strengthen staff training, carefully vet candidates, and avoid downloading files.

CZ concluded his warning with this clear reminder:

“Stay SAFE. Awareness and discipline are still the best defenses against these persistent threats.”

While the number of hacking incidents in the cryptocurrency sector has increased significantly in recent years, according to Chainalysis data, North Korean hackers stole approximately $1.34 billion worth of cryptocurrency in 2024. The US and UN have confirmed that the stolen money was used to finance North Korea’s weapons program.
