Saiyaara is the most-watched non-English film on Netflix

Netflix has come up with the latest weekly list of most-watched films and shows for the week and three Indian films have made it. Mohit Suri’s directorial Saiyaara ranked on top of the list while Manoj Bajpayee’s Inspector Zende ranked on the third slot. Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom, in its third week on Netflix, is the ninth most-watched non-English film on Netflix.

Saiyaara

Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara recorded 3.7 million views and 9.3 million watch-hours on Netflix since it landed online on September 12. Apart from being the most-watched non-English film on Netflix, it was also the most-watched film in nine countries including Mauritius, Bangladesh, Bahrain, India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Oman, Pakistan and UAE. It also ranked among top ten movies in 15 countries across the globe.

When it hit theatres on July 18, Saiyaara retained a spot among the highest-grossing films worldwide for two consecutive weeks. In its third week, Saiyaara ranked among the top-scoring films in the US, with Comscore recording $778,000 weekend box office for the film in the USA markets. Loosely based on the 2004 Korean film A Moment To Remember, Saiyaara marked the biggest opening ever for a Mohit Suri film. It made nearly $2.5 million in India and $3 million worldwide on its opening day. Witnessing an upward trend for a long time at the box office, Saiyaara scored a little above $64 million in 50 days. With nearly $65 million global box office collection, it is now the second top-grossing Indian film of 2025.

Indian actor Ahaan Panday makes his debut with the Bollywood film Saiyaara which was hailed as the unofficial third film in Mohit Suri’s hit romantic franchise Aashiqui. While it has a similar plot of artists falling in love and the sacrifices they make for their selfless love, Saiyaara is not an official sequel to Aashiqui 2.

Inspector Zende

Netflix India original Inspector Zende registered 3.3 million views and 6.2 million watch-hours on Netflix in its second week. The film climbed two slots on Netflix global top 10 list to become the third most-watched non-English film on Netflix for the week ending September 14. It also ranked among top ten movies in 14 countries across the world. The film is the second most-watched film on Netflix in India this week.

Last week, Inspector Zende was the fourth most-watched non-English film and the most-watched film in India, Pakistan, UAE and Mauritius. It was also among top ten movies in 15 countries.

Directed by Chinmay D Mandelkar, Inspector Zende is loosely inspired by a real-life Indian cop – Madhukar Zende – who managed to nab the infamous killer Charles Shobhraj twice. In the film, Bajpayee plays the police officer while Jim Sarbh essays the role of the killer who goes by the fictional name Carl Bhojraj. Bhalchandra Kadam, Harish Dudhade, Sachin Khedekar, and Girija Oak also feature in Inspector Zende.

Kingdom
