Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ Streaming Price Drops Big

Viewers can now see Tom Cruise’s action thriller Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning for a lot less on digital streaming.

Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning — which may be Cruise’s last film as Impossible Mission Force Agent Ethan Hunt — was released in theaters on May 23 before making its debut on digital streaming on premium video on demand on Aug. 19.

Picking up after the events of 2023’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, the new Mission: Impossible film finds the self-aware artificial intelligence program called The Entity wreaking havoc all over the world. Up next for the AI, is a plan that could plunge the globe into World War III. One by one, The Entity is taking control of every major country’s nuclear arsenals and is bearing down fast on the U.S.’ stockpile.

In a desperate attempt to stop The Entity, President Erika Sloane (Angela Bassett) locates Ethan, who is now a rogue agent, and asks him to achieve the impossible by finding a way to shut the maniacal AI down.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning also stars Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Greg Tarzan Davis, Pom Klementieff, Hannah Waddingham, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, Shea Whigham, Trammell Tillman, Henry Czerny, Holt McCallany and Esai Morales.

Starting Tuesday, digital platforms including Prime Video and Fandango at Home dropped the digital purchase and rental prices of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.

Previously, the film cost $19.99 to purchase digitally and $14.99 to rent for 48 hours. Now, however, the purchase price for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is $12.99 and the rental price is $6.99.

How Did ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning Perform In Theaters?

During its theatrical run, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning made $197.4 million domestically and nearly $400.3 million internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $597.7 million. The film had a $400 million production budget before prints and advertising costs, according to The Numbers.

There’s no word yet from Paramount Pictures regarding the premiere of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning on the studio’s streaming service Paramount+.

Typically, it takes about a month for Paramount’s films to come to PVOD and a month after that to debut on Paramount+. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, however, took much longer to reach PVOD — about three months, so it’s unclear if the film will take longer to reach Paramount+ as well.

In the meantime, Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, which is rated PG-13, is available for purchase or rent on digital streaming for a reduced price.
