A total of five Indian films – including four Hindi ones – have made it to the weekly list of most-watched non-English films on Netflix for the week ending September 7. This is the second week in a row when five Indian films have made it to the list. Indian star Manoj Bajpayee’s Inspector Zende made its debut on the list just three days after it landed online. Tehran, Metro In Dino and Kingdom maintained a spot on the list for the second consecutive week. It is the third week on the list for Kajol-starrer Maa.
Four Hindi films, one Tamil film on Netflix global top 10
Indian films have been ruling the watch-list for Netflix subscribers worldwide this month. Last week, five films made it to the global list of most-watched non-English films. Now, in the second week of September again, five films including four Hindi films, have made it to the weekly list. Vishal Furia’s Maa enjoys its third week on the list while it is the second consecutive week on Netflix global top 10 list for Tehran, Metro In Dino and Kingdom. Inspector Zende ranked among the top films in its debut week itself.

The new Hindi film on Netflix, Inspector Zende, ranked at the fourth slot on the list of most-watched non-English films for the week ending September 7. It recorded 3.4 million views and 6.3 million watch-hours since the release on September 5. Inspector Zende was the most-watched film in India, Pakistan, UAE and Mauritius. It was also among top ten movies in 15 countries.
Loosely inspired by a true story of ‘swimsuit killer from 80s India, Inspector Zende is director by Chinmay D. Mandlekar. Manoj Bajpayee and Jim Sarbh play lead roles in the film which also features Bhalchandra Kadam, Sachin Khedekar, Girija Oak and Harish Dudhade.

Kingdom: Samrajya recorded 2.1 million views and 5.4 million watch-hours in its second week on Netflix. The film released online on August 29, a month after its theatrical release. It is the fifth most-watched non-English film worldwide on Netflix and ranked among top ten movies in 13 countries across the globe.
Last week, the Telugu film was the sixth most-watched non-English film across the globe and also ranked among top ten most-watched films in 13 countries.
Headlined by Indian star Vijay Deverakonda, Kingdom is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri who has also written it. Deverakonda essays the lead role along side Bhagyashri Bose, Satyadev, Bhoomi Shetty, Baburaj, and Manish Chaudhary.

Anurag Basu’s Metro In Dino maintained a spot on Netflix’s weekly list for the second consecutive week. It recorded 1.9 million views and 5.1 million watch-hours in its second week on the platform to become the sixth most-watched non-English film on Netflix worldwide. It also ranked among top ten movies in nine countries. Last week, the film was tenth on the global list.
Metro In Dino explores new age fast life and the consequences of such a lifestyle on human relationships. The romantic drama features Anupam Kher, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Neena Gupta, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, and Fatima Sana Shaikh. The new film is a spiritual sequel to Basu’s 2007 film Life In A Metro, which was also an anthology focusing on human relationships amid city life.

Maddock Films’ Tehran registered 1.8 million views and 3.5 million watch-hours in its second week on Netflix to become the seventh most-watched non-English film worldwide on the platform. The John Abraham-starrer film also ranked among top ten movies in eleven countries.
Tehran landed on Netflix just two weeks after its direct-to-digital release on ZEE5. Last week, it was the eighth most-watched film globally on Netflix. On ZEE5, the film clocked in more than a 100 million views. Directed by Arun Gopalan, Tehran is about Indians amid tense relations between Israel and Iran. John Abraham stars in the film along side Neeru Bajwa, Manushi Chhillar, and Madhurima Tuli.

Kajol-starrer Maa ranked among top films on Netflix for the third consecutive week in the week ending September 7. It recorded 1.3 million views and 2.9 million watch-hours in its third week on the platform and ranked at the ninth slot. It also ranked among top ten movies in seven countries.
Directed by Chhorii fame filmmaker Vishal Furia, Maa was the fourth most-watched non-English film worldwide last week and the fifth one in its debut week. Kajol plays the titular role of a mother in the film which also features Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sen Gupta, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya.
