The Beatles, John Lennon, and Ringo Starr all appear on the U.K.’s Official Physical Singles chart this week, as the Fab Four scores five wins and the solo stars appear. All four members of The Beatles — Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, George Harrison, and John Lennon — enjoyed long, successful careers on their own after the band split, though nothing any of them released will likely ever match the cultural and commercial heights The Beatles managed in barely a decade together.
More than half a century after the breakup, that imbalance remains clear in the United Kingdom this frame, as the band claims multiple hits — and two of the four musicians from the act appear on the very same tally as the rock group itself.
John Lennon And Ringo Starr Join The Beatles
Lennon and Starr sit alongside The Beatles on the Official Physical Singles chart, which ranks the bestselling songs on CD, cassette, and vinyl in the U.K. Of the trio of entries connected to the Fab Four’s members, Lennon claims one hit, Starr has two, while The Beatles themselves manage several wins.
Five Beatles Cuts Make The List
The Beatles fill five spaces on the Official Physical Singles chart this week. “I’ll Get You” at No. 22; “All My Loving” at No. 41; “I Want to Hold Your Hand” at No. 48; “Now and Then” at No. 58; and From Us to You – 2 March 1964 (which is actually an EP) at No. 63 all find space. It’s a spread that covers early smashes and the most modern activity alike.
Ringo Starr Returns With Two Titles
Starr adds to the action with a pair of reentries. “Crooked Boy” is back at No. 42, while “Rewind Forward” returns at No. 64. The former lands just one space behind The Beatles’ “All My Loving,” creating a fun bit of chart symmetry, as Starr’s recent solo work sits right next to the group that made him famous.
John & Yoko Chart Together
Lennon also shows up with Yoko Ono, and the husband and wife are credited as John & Yoko with the Plastic Ono Band. “Power to the People” climbs to No. 88 on the Official Physical Singles chart this frame, inching a few spaces north.
