Billie Eilish recently decided to celebrate her album Hit Me Hard and Soft turning one year old, although the party came a bit late. The singer-songwriter dropped the project in May 2024, and this week it bounds up the Billboard charts as sales exploded following a re-release on a collector’s edition vinyl.
Hit Me Hard and Soft leaps on everything Billboard tally it can be found on, and it even returns to No. 1 on two of them.
Billie Eilish Returns to No. 1 on Several Charts
The Grammy-nominated project appears in first place on both the Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Alternative Albums charts. Last frame, it sat in fourth on the alternative-only list and down at No. 6 on the ranking of the most consumed EPs and complete projects that can be classified as rock, alternative, hard rock, or any other subgenre.
Hit Me Hard and Soft is About To Beat a Record
Hit Me Hard and Soft, Eilish’s only No. 1 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart, has now spent 45 weeks ruling that ranking. The set has earned 10 additional stays atop the Top Alternative Albums list, and it’s now just one frame away from tying her debut effort When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? as her longest-running champion.
Hit Me Hard and Soft Stalls at No. 2 on Two Tallies
As Hit Me Hard and Soft reconquers two rock rankings, the full-length stalls in the runner-up space on another pair of tallies. Eilish’s release reenters the Vinyl Albums chart at No. 2 and bounds up the Top Album Sales ranking into the same position. While Eilish’s third LP didn’t appear on the vinyl ranking just days ago, it barely hung on at No. 48 on the 50-spot Top Album Sales list last period.
Hit Me Hard and Soft Finds Its Way to the Top 10
Hit Me Hard and Soft also rockets up the Billboard 200, returning to the top 10. Eilish’s first album to miss hitting No. 1 – it peaked at No. 2 – leaps from No. 24 to No. 6. While sales of the vinyl reissue are responsible for her ascent on most rankings, the excitement around the anniversary also helps propel Hit Me Hard and Soft up the Top Streaming Albums chart. As its name implies, that list looks only at the most-streamed collections, so sales play no role whatsoever in where a project lands, and yet this week Hit Me Hard and Soft pushes from No. 21 to No. 18.
