Chiefs React To Travis Kelce And Taylor Swift Engagement News

The most famous sports and entertainment couple since Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio is now official.

Music superstar Taylor Swift, who became a billionaire in October of 2023, announced her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

“It’s incredible, man,” Chiefs defensive end Mike Danna said. “Great for them. That’s a blessing. Any time you find that type of joy, happiness and love, I think that’s a beautiful thing.”

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid actually had met Swift before she met Kelce. He was the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles from 1999-2012, and Swift is a Pennsylvania native, and her dad is a huge Eagles fan.

Earlier this month, he praised her relationship with Kelce.

“It’s a neat deal,” he said. “I’m happy for them. Both of them like each other and what a plus that is. They care about each other, and I think that’s the most important thing. The older you get, you want these guys to have somebody they can settle down with and that whole deal.”

Owning The News Cycle

The engagement news wraps up an exciting month of news for the couple.

Two weeks ago, she appeared on the “New Heights” podcast that Travis Kelce co-hosts with his brother, Jason.

With a total of 1.3 million, it set a Guinness World Record by pulling in the most concurrent views for a podcast on YouTube.

When Reid was asked about her appearance on it, he had a wry take.

“I’m like really old,” the 67-year-old Reid said, jokingly. “My grandkids will be all over it.”

That same week of Swift’s podcast appearance, Kelce appeared on the cover of GQ. In the in-depth cover story, he discussed his relationship with Swift.

“When there is not a camera on us, we’re just two people that are in love. It can be perceived as something else because of how much it is talked about and how much we are tracked whenever we do go out,” he told GQ. “We are two fun-loving people who have the morals to appreciate everyone for who they are. We share all those values.”

Swift’s Delicious Hobby

Swift shares more than values; she also shares delicious baked goods.

During her two-hour, four-minute appearance on “New Heights”, Swift talked about her new passion of making sourdough bread.

And her penchant for baking helped ingratiate her with the Chiefs team. She made them homemade pop-tarts.

“The D-line was all over those,” Danna said. “Them things will get you in trouble because those are like dessert and those are like fire. So if you have one, you best believe you’re going to want two, maybe three.”

It was at a Chiefs game when Swift and Kelce first went public with their relationship. She appeared in a luxury box to root for her beau as the Chiefs played the Chicago Bears at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in September of 2023.

Interestingly enough, the Chiefs just hosted the Bears, though Swift wasn’t in attendance, in their final preseason game, making it a bit of a full-circle moment.

“That’s so awesome,” Danna said. “I’m so happy for them.”
