When Jason asked why she chose orange as the theme of the album, Swift responded, “It feels kind of energetically how my life has felt, and this album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant, electric, and vibrant.”

Swift later added that the album matches how her life feels in the current moment and reflects “everything that was going on behind the curtain” during the Eras Tour. “I wanted to do an album that was focused on quality, on the theme, and on everything fitting together like a perfect puzzle. With these 12 songs from my 12th album, I feel like we’ve achieved that.”
