Wednesday’s return to Nevermore Academy drew viewers in droves, catapulting Part 1 of the hit series’ Season 2 to the top of Netflix’s global most‑watched English TV shows list. In just four days, the first four episodes amassed 50 million views.
The season’s debut also logged the second‑most views in a single week for any English TV title on the streamer, behind only Wednesday Season 1. It also set a new record for an English TV title ranking No. 1 in its first week, topping charts in 91 countries.
Jenna Ortega’s intense performance and gothic charm remain central to the show’s success, igniting a massive fandom. Her Instagram following surged from 9 million to 37 million around the Season 1 launch and has since grown by another million.
Paco Cabezas, one of three directors this season and returning for Season 3, praised Ortega’s command of the character as Wednesday focuses on solving the mystery at hand.
“Every time that Wednesday Addams walks into a room, she’s like a shark,” he says. “She has an objective and… she has this Sherlock Holmes kind of mind.”
