Late Bob Uecker Would Cherish This Relentless Milwaukee Brewers’ Team

Legendary Milwaukee Brewers broadcaster Bob Uecker would be bursting with excitement.

The Brewers are dedicating their 2025 Major League Baseball season to the late Bob Uecker, who passed away in January.

Uecker would enjoy every single moment of this momentous Brewers season.

The Brewers are relentless. They are fearless. They never give up.

They are called “the Woodpeckers” because they keep pecking away at the opposition.

Manager Pat Murphy says the Brewers have “found their edge.”

At the start of play August 12, the Brewers have a Major League Baseball best 74 wins.

The Brewers have won ten consecutive games.

The Brewers are well ahead of the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central Division.

The Brewers are earning their success with a “lunch pail” Brew Crew of very good baseball players. They come to the park hunting a win.

The Brewers run their opponents off the field. They steal bases, and collect extra bases with savvy base running.

The Brewers are reflecting the passion and almost unquenchable desire to win from Murphy.

Murphy was the National League Manager of the Year in 2024, when the Brewers won 93 games, but lost to the New York Mets in the 2024 National League Wild Card.

The Brewers determined to go well beyond the Wild Card, with their goal set on a World Series Championship.

Where Are The Stars?

There is no Shohei Ohtani on the Brewers. No Aaron Judge. No superstars.

As the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel stated in July, “The Milwaukee Brewers are among the better-and hotter teams in baseball by record, yet they have no clear-cut star.”

Well, that doesn’t phase the Brewers. Or their fans.

Perhaps the Brewers next star will be flame throwing pitcher, All Star Jacob Misiorowski, who is currently injured.

For now, the Brewers are a collection of fine major league baseball players who are the definition of a team being the “sum of its parts.”

It seems the Brewers find a new way to win, and/or a new guy to lead the way every game.

The most recognized player is Christian Yelich, who at 33, is the closest player in the lineup to being a household name.

Rhys Hoskins, Jake Bauers, Jackson Chourio, and Garrett Mitchell are more familiar names. But each is currently on the MLB Injured List, and the Brewers are winning, even in their absence.

Chourio may be a star in the making, and the four players noted above would enhance the depth of the club.

Brandon Woodruff-RHP, 4-0, 2.29 ERA, 0.65 WHIP

Tobias Myers-RHP- 1-1, 1.67 ERA, 4.78 WHIP

Quinn Priester-RHP- 11-2, 3.49 ERA, 1.24 WHIP

Jose Quintana-LHP- 9-4, 3.57 ERA, 1.34 WHIP

Priester and Quintana arrived this year.

The bullpen has been outstanding. They have picked up their starters, and closed out games.

The Brewers are going “all in” to honor beloved broadcaster, Bob Uecker.

The team never gives up.

Bernie Brewer is flying down his slide.

With a balanced attack of good hitting, good pitching, solid defense, and aggressive team speed, the Brewers are playing the type of baseball reflected by the commitment and drive of manager Pat Murphy.

The Cubs are trying to catch them.

It will tough to stop, or slow down the collection of good baseball players wearing the uniform of the Milwaukee Brewers.
