US President Donald Trump has recently stated that he wants his country to become the capital of disruptive technologies like crypto and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The move follows a series of public support for the two sectors as the US tries to secure its place as the center of tech innovations amidst serious threats posed by China.

Trump said:

“….reduce the costs of virtually all goods and services that will make the United States a manufacturing superpower and the world capital of Artificial Intelligence and crypto”.

The 47th American chief executive has been actively working to court crypto-related investments ever since he took office back in January. Recent pro-crypto moves from the American president include allowing crypto into 401(k) retirement plans and appointing pro-crypto economist Stephen Miran as a governor on the Federal Reserve Bank.

Trump’s Crypto Vision

Donald Trump was once one of the most vocal opponents of the digital currency revolution. Back in his first term, President Trump famously claimed that cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin were used for illicit transactions, including drugs. However, he eventually did a complete U-turn on the matter when he started campaigning for the 2024 election.

He started courting crypto users openly and expressed his desire to help the USA lead the world in this emerging industry. Trump attended crypto conferences and promised to allow Americans to make full use of the digital currency revolution. He also made campaign promises, such as funding a strategic Bitcoin reserve.

While Trump hasn’t fulfilled all of his promises and several big ones like the strategic reserve remain in infancy, he has stepped up and delivered on many of them as well. Through his efforts, the US is on a steady path towards becoming a lucrative state for crypto investors and innovators.

DeFi has seen a significant boost due to legalized staking, improved crypto taxation processes, and the move to allow 401(k)s to include crypto, all of which have been instrumental in achieving its objectives.

The Future

While Trump has delivered a lot on the crypto front, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to make the US the “global superpower” in crypto. Other competing countries, such as the United Arab Emirates, Cyprus, and El Salvador, have had a head start in this economy, and the US is currently playing catch-up.

However, considering the financial pull and the strong tech fundamentals within the US, analysts will be betting on Trump to make it happen.
