Everything To Know About ‘Wednesday’ Season 2: Release Date, Plot, Cast

After becoming Netflix’s most popular series ever, Season 2 of Wednesday is finally making its way back to the streamer this week. Here’s everything to know about the spooky next installment, including the two-part release schedule, cast, plot and much more.

It’s been almost three years since the first season of Wednesday dropped on Netflix, re-introducing the world to Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), a character based on Charles Addams’ original creations for The Addams Family franchise. The inaugural season spent 20 weeks on Global Top 10 and propelled to the Top 10 in 93 countries with 252.10 million views, according to Tudum.

Creators and showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are back to helm the second season of acclaimed series, with executive producer and director Tim Burton also returning. “This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore,” Gough and Miles Millar teased to Tudum.

When Is Wednesday Season 2 Premiering On Netflix?

The first part of Wednesday Season 2 (Episodes 1–4) will be released on Netflix on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025, at 3:00 a.m. ET / 12:00 a.m. PT. The final four episodes in Part 2 will follow on Sept. 3, 2025.

What Will Wednesday Season 2 Be About?

In the Season 1 finale of Wednesday, Wednesday uncovered that Tyler (Hunter Doohan) was the Hyde terrorizing Nevermore Academy. She also discovered that he was being controlled by Laurel (Christina Ricci), a descendant of Joseph Crackstone, a Colonial-era pilgrim obsessed with eradicating all outcasts from the town of Jericho

Laurel used Tyler’s powers as a Hyde to eliminate outcasts and gather the body parts needed to resurrect Crackstone, who would then help her kill all the outcasts. But she needed Wednesday because Wednesday’s ancestor, Goody Addams, had sealed Crackstone’s sarcophagus with a blood lock. Once Laurel got Wednesday’s blood, the lock would be broken and Crackstone would be freed.

Thankfully, Wednesday pieced everything together just in time during the finale, joining forces with the Nevermore students to take down Laurel and Crackstone. As actress Ortega told Tudum, “We ended Season 1 with a stalker that was still after me. Tyler has been sent to a psych ward, and half the school is burnt down.” She also teased that Season 2 will begin with Wednesday being kidnapped.

“Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await. This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem,” the official synopsis reads. “Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery.
