In the days following his shocking passing, Ozzy Osbourne’s catalog experienced huge gains in both sales and streams. Such a surge is not unusual for a beloved musician just after death, and the increase is reflected on charts all around the globe. At the moment, in the United Kingdom — Osbourne’s home turf — the grief seems to be especially strong. While a number of his tracks returned to several tallies, perhaps the most surprising move on the rankings right now is the sheer number of debuts he manages posthumously.
Five Brand New Hits for Ozzy Osbourne
Of the seven hits Osbourne currently has on the charts in the U.K., five are brand new arrivals – at least on some lists. A handful debut across every tally on which they appear, while others land on specific rankings for the first time and return to others.
“Crazy Train” and “No More Tears” debut on three charts apiece. “Crazy Train” also manages to reappear on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart, where it breaks back in at No. 3, a new all-time peak for the classic.
Amazingly, “Crazy Train” is the only one of Osbourne’s solo tunes to appear on the Official Singles chart, the 100-space ranking of the most consumed cuts throughout the country. On that roster, one of his most celebrated releases opens at No. 56.
“Mama, I’m Coming Home” and “Mr. Crowley” Debut
“Dreamer / Gets Me Through” is brand new to both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads charts, where the single entity enters just below the top 20.
Meanwhile, “Mama, I’m Coming Home” and “Mr. Crowley” debut on one list apiece, though they reach different rankings. “Mama, I’m Coming Home” begins its time on the Official Rock & Metal Singles tally at No. 16, while “Mr. Crowley” narrowly breaks onto the Official Singles Downloads chart, entering at No. 97.
“Mama, I’m Coming Home” Reaches Several New Peaks
While “Mr. Crowley” only appears on that downloads chart, “Mama, I’m Coming Home” becomes a top 10 bestseller on both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads rankings as well, breaking back in at No. 6 on both at the same time. That’s a never-before-seen peak for the classic on those two tallies.
