Even though the 2025 Emmy Awards are about six weeks away, The White Lotus Season 3 nominee Walton Goggins said he already feels like a winner no matter what the outcome of the ceremony is.
Goggins stars in the tragic role of the revenge-driven Rick Hatchett in the critically acclaimed hit third season of the HBO drama from creator Mike White. Among The White Lotus Season 3’s 23 nods — including Outstanding Drama Series — Goggins was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series along with castmates Jason Isaacs and Sam Rockwell.
Goggins’ fellow White Lotus Season 3 stars Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, Nathasha Rothwell and Aimee Lou Wood earned nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, while Scott Glenn earned a nod for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
The White Lotus Emmy nomination is Goggins’ third. Previously, he was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for playing as Boyd Crowder in Justified in 2011 and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his turn as Cooper Howard/The Ghoul in Fallout in 2024.
During a recent Zoom conversation about his work in the Doritos Golden Sriracha-flavored comedy film short A Spicy But Not Too Spicy Plumber, Goggins reflected on all the good fortunes he’s had in showbiz since his screen career kicked off in 1990 — and why he already counts his role of Rick in The White Lotus Season 3 as a big win no matter the amount of accolades he receives.
“I’ve gotten 20 roles of a lifetime over the course of my career and to make a living as an artist in whatever medium you’re in — I’m sure in your business as a writer — you’ve already won,” Goggins told me. “Even if they don’t see your work, if you can provide a living for your family doing what you love to do, you’re in the 3% or 4% of the world’s population who wake up each day knowing that.”
So, after he was “given an invitation to play in the sandbox of someone’s imagination like Mike White,” Goggins said he’s still trying to figure out the magnitude of what the role meant to him.
“[I was] given an opportunity to go on this very painful journey of Rick Hatchett and to say as a parable through his story what he has to say about life — I don’t know, man. I don’t even know how to express how I feel about this moment in my life,” Goggins said.

Walton Goggins Is Humbled By The Recognition Of His Work In ‘The White Lotus’
Speaking further about his Emmy nomination for The White Lotus Season 3, Walton Goggins said that he’s humbled by the fact that the role meant so much to his peers to bestow him with the honor. As such, no matter if his name his called out or not at the 2025 Emmy Awards on Sept. 15, Goggins said he is going to savor the moment.
“I’ve been around for a long time. This is my third Emmy nomination and you don’t know if anything like this will happen again,” Goggins said. “You just have to be grateful for the moment and be open to the next experience.”
Goggins is reprising his Emmy-nominated role of Cooper Howard/The Ghoul for Prime Video’s Fallout Season 2, which is still awaiting a release date. All eight episodes of Fallout Season 1 are streaming on Prime Video, while all eight episodes of The White Lotus Season 3 are streaming on HBO Max.
