Ethereum Turns 10, Outshining Bitcoin in Altcoin Comeback

Ethereum just turned ten, and it’s celebrating with one of its strongest rallies in years.

The network’s native token, ETH, surged 60% this month, driven by a perfect storm of capital rotation, institutional demand, and bullish sentiment ahead of its milestone birthday on July 30.

The rally pushed ETH to a high of $3,915 before settling around $3,807. Though short of a new all-time high, the token’s performance easily outpaced Bitcoin’s modest 10% rise over the same period—hinting at a shift in market leadership.

Fuel Behind the Climb

Multiple forces fueled the upward momentum. Spot Ethereum ETFs drew over $5.4 billion in inflows during July, with nearly 80% of that pouring in between July 11–25. The timing wasn’t coincidental—it marked one year since ETH spot ETFs debuted, attracting renewed interest from institutions.

Meanwhile, whales went on a buying spree. On-chain data revealed over $4 billion in ETH accumulated by large holders, including one wallet scooping up $45 million in a single transfer. While Bitcoin whales showed signs of selling, ETH whales increased their positions, reinforcing the upward pressure.

Adding to the tailwind was a favorable regulatory backdrop. The passage of the U.S. GENIUS Act and anticipation of further crypto-friendly legislation signaled growing political support for digital assets, particularly those with strong utility like Ethereum.

Market Rotation in Play

Capital also rotated aggressively into altcoins, with Ethereum leading the charge. Bitcoin dominance dropped as traders repositioned for what many are calling the next “altseason.” The ETH/BTC ratio rose, reflecting this capital flow and reinforcing Ethereum’s status as the key altcoin to watch.

What’s Next for ETH?

Ethereum’s double-digit rally and decade milestone have reignited optimism, but it’s still far from its all-time peak. Investors remain hopeful that new catalysts—whether technical upgrades, regulatory wins, or broader adoption—could drive the next breakout phase.
