Nasdaq-listed healthcare tech firm Semler Scientific has added to its already large Bitcoin holdings as the premier crypto shatters new all-time highs — taking its total holdings to 4,846 BTC.

Semler Scientific Bags $25M More BTC

Semler acquired an additional 210 BTC for approximately $25 million at an average price of $118,974 per Bitcoin between July 3 to July 16, according to an 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday.

The firm now holds 4,846 BTC worth more than $570 million. The stack was acquired for a total of $455 million, or an average price of $93,890.

Bitcoin was recently trading at $119,699, up 0.5% over the past 24 hours but up 16% during the past month, according to CoinGecko data.

Semler’s latest Bitcoin purchases were made with proceeds generated from the issuance and sale of its common stock. In April, Semler signed an agreement with Barclays Capital, Cantor Fitzgerald, Canaccord Genuity, Needham & Company, Craig-Hallum Capital Group, and Lake Street Capital Markets to sell up to $500 million of its common stock through an at-the-market (ATM) program.

As of July 16, Semler had sold 4,466,449 shares under the sales agreement, generating roughly $175 million in net proceeds, the firm said in the filing.

Santa Clara, California-based Semler is now holding the 14th biggest stash among publicly-traded companies after the latest buy. It has surpassed GameStop’s 4,710 BTC stash in the corporate Bitcoin accumulation race.

Semler first started buying Bitcoin last year with a $40 million transaction to acquire 581 BTC. It has continued to accumulate the crypto asset, following the playbook of software company Strategy (formerly known as MicroStrategy), the world’s largest corporate holder of Bitcoin.

Like Strategy, Semler uses a key performance metric known as BTC Yield to assess the effectiveness of its Bitcoin acquisition strategy in driving shareholder value. BTC Yield represents the percentage change period-to-period of the ratio between Semler’s Bitcoin cache and its assumed shares outstanding. The company said it has achieved a year-to-date BTC Yield of 30.3%.
