Forward Mia Fishel has signed a multi-year contract with Seattle Reign FC through the 2029 season.
After playing two seasons with Chelsea FC in the Women’s Super League, forward Mia Fishel has offially signed a multi-year contract with Seattle Reign FC through the 2029 season.
“I’m incredibly excited to sign a long-term contract in the NWSL and take this next step in my career with Seattle Reign FC,” said Fishel. “This league is one of the best in the world, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity. I can’t wait to get started and contribute to the team’s success.”
Fishel becomes longest contracted player on the roster
The deal for the U.S. Women’s National Team star includes a transfer fee paid to her former club. Fishel was with the club when they won back to back WSL titles. She also scored in her club debut in 2023 and despite an ACL injury, she recorded two goals in 14 appearances.
“We’re pleased to bring Mia Fishel to Seattle Reign FC,” said Seattle Reign FC General Manager Lesle Gallimore. “Mia is a player with tremendous upside – a goal-scorer with presence, creativity and a drive to keep growing. This move represents an important step in her return to top form, and we’re committed to giving her the environment and support to thrive. We believe in her ability to make a real impact in the NWSL and are looking forward to what she’ll bring to the club and our fans.”
Fishel was initially selected as the fifth overall pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft by the Orlando Pride but decided to begin her professional playing career by signing with Tigres UANL in liga MX Femenil.
With Tigres, Fishel scored 17 goals in 17 games and won the 2022 Liga MX Femenil Golden Boot award. From her success in the league, Fishel made a new historical record by becoming the first foreign player to reach the milestone.
Fishel not only became a key player for the club, but the young standout also helped lead the club to win their fifth championship trophy when they won the Apertura 2022 Championship.
In 2020, Fishel finally earned her first senior call up to the U.S. Women’s National Team. However, she made her debut in 2023 and scored her first goal in her hometown of San Diego, CA.
At the youth level, Fishel has played on the U-15, U-17, and U-20 teams and has won three Concacaf Championships during her time as a youth player. She also holds the national record for most goals scored by any U.S. Youth National Team player across all age categories with a total of 13 goals.
Additionally, she was also recognized by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics as the world’s top goal scorer in 2022.
Although the NWSL is currently on their month-long mid-season break, Fishel will join the club immediately and is the longest-contracted player by the club on their roster.
