INGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA – JUNE 26: Earthquake performs onstage during BET Experience presented by … More
Earthquake (a.k.a. Nathaniel Stroman) is the next comedian potentially heading to network television as the star of his own sitcom. Many former comedians have found success in the format – Jerry Seinfeld, Tim Allen, Cedric the Entertainer, Roseanne Barr, Ray Romano, Ellen DeGeneres, Paul Reiser, Martin Lawrence and Drew Carey, to name a few. Some have come and quickly gone. Think John Mulaney, Kevin Hart, Dave Chappelle, Andrew Dice Clay and Arsenio Hall, among others. And now Earthquake is hoping to enter the mix in a multi-camera project on Fox, which has a script commitment.
Bill Burr is developing the half-hour comedy Earthquake based on the life of the veteran comedian, who presently hosts the Monday to Wednesday radio show Quakeshouse for Sirius XM and Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud Network.
Burr is producing the project through his North Hill Productions with 3 Arts Entertainment through Fox Entertainment Studios. Earthquake, Burr, Dave Becky, manager Jermaine Smith and Mike Bertolina, Burr’s producing partner, are executive producers. And the official logline has not been announced at press time.
Once the home to an array of “must see” animated comedies, veteran Fox occupants like The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers have been deteriorating for years. While the network is exhibiting patience with current live action sitcoms Animal Control and Going Dutch, the audience is limited, and Fox remains in search of the next breakout entry. Is that even a possibility in today’s highly fractionalized linear and digital content environment?
Stay tuned.
