Senator Cynthia Lummis says there is clear “enthusiasm at the White House” for Congress to deliver progress on cryptocurrency regulation, particularly around stablecoins, citing the momentum behind the GENIUS Act.
Speaking on recent legislative efforts, Lummis highlighted that while the House Financial Services Committee and House Agriculture Committee have advanced key crypto-related proposals—including stablecoin and commodities regulation—the Senate has taken the lead by passing the GENIUS Act, which is focused on creating a stablecoin framework.
“I hope now that they’re comparing the stablecoin legislation their Financial Services Committee passed to the GENIUS Act, and we can work together to figure out a path forward for both market structure and the GENIUS Act,” she said.
Lummis made clear that combining the two bills isn’t necessarily the goal, but emphasized that both must pass this year. She expressed confidence that the GENIUS Act, which she helped steer through the Senate, is a “high-quality product worthy of the President’s signature.”
With bipartisan focus growing and alignment between the House, Senate, and White House appearing stronger than ever, stablecoin legislation could become the first major crypto win in U.S. federal law.
