FC Barcelona Fans Would Never Forgive Club For This Potential Sale

FC Barcelona fans would never forgive the club if it made one sell being touted as possible this summer, according to El Partidazo de Cope journalist Juanma Castano.

The Catalans are on the verge of finally completing the capture of Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who has been bought by activating a $28.8 million (€25 million) release clause set by their crosstown rivals.

The 2024/2025 breakout star’s arrival could result in former mainstay and current captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s departure from his club since 2014, but Barca will need to offload other players if it is to pursue further targets in the summer transfer window.

Chief among those is Nico Williams, who seems to have pulled in front across a three-horse race also run by Liverpool’s Luis Diaz and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford to become Hansi Flick’s left winger.

Ansu Fati failed to convince the German of his worthiness for minutes, and is expected to join AS Monaco ahead of next term in either a permanent sale or a loan with an option to buy.

Yet with La Liga president Javier Tebas warning the Spanish top flight’s reigning champions that they will “have to do some things” to activate another release clause which is Williams’ worth $66.8 million (€58 million) at Athletic Club, it is believed that a big sale of note might be needed to balance the books and secure the Euro 2024 winner.

A club coming in for Ronald Araujo and activating his release clause worth $75 million (€65 million) in the first 10 days of July after he was heavily linked to Juventus in the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, interest in Fermin Lopez has been forthcoming from Chelsea and Saudi Arabia, and though he’s not quite in the same category as untouchables such as Lamine Yamal and Pedri, Castano believes that Culers would never forgive President Joan Laporta and Sporting Director Deco for letting the fan favourite go.

“I know that with that sale I think there are many Barca fans who would not agree,” Castano said on the immensely popular Spanish soccer radio show El Partidazo de Cope.

Furthermore, Castano’s colleagues across the rest of the panel reiterated a common belief that Laporta and Deco would only consider offloading Fermin if an offer that was too good to refuse came in for the 22-year-old.

Fermin doesn’t want to leave FC Barcelona either

Bayern Munich is another interested party, but above all Fermin doesn’t want to leave FC Barcelona either. With the Blaugrana since being scouted by La Masia as a 13-year-old that was often underrated and written off, he has fought hard to get where he is at a club he clearly loves.
