MemeStrategy Inc., a Hong Kong-listed company, has become the first public firm in the region to make a strategic investment in the Solana ecosystem.
The company announced the acquisition of 2,440 SOL tokens, valued at approximately HKD 2.9 million (~ $370,000), as part of a broader push to align its treasury with emerging blockchain technologies.
According to its filing, MemeStrategy’s investment was funded using internal reserves and marks a deliberate move into the Web3 space.
The company cited Solana’s speed, scalability, and growing developer base as key reasons behind the decision, emphasizing the blockchain’s appeal in decentralized applications (dApps), real-world asset tokenization, and consumer adoption.
The firm highlighted three core objectives for its SOL allocation:
- Gain exposure to token price appreciation amid rising demand.
- Generate yield through staking on Solana’s delegated proof-of-stake network.
- Diversify its treasury into crypto-native assets as a hedge against traditional financial volatility.
The announcement positions MemeStrategy at the forefront of corporate crypto adoption in Asia and reinforces Solana’s expanding footprint in institutional circles.
