Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” hits a new chart high, rising to No. 179 on the Billboard Global 200 — … More
Metallica reached incredible heights decades ago when the band released “Enter Sandman.” While the track was a hard rock smash at the time, nobody could have predicted how big or how long-lasting it would prove to be. The tune is still charting to this day, decades later, and is currently rising across a number of Billboard rankings in the U.S. – and around the world.
The song even manages to climb to a new peak on a roster that wouldn’t even be introduced until decades after Metallica first released one of its biggest singles.
“Enter Sandman” Rises to a New All-Time Peak
“Enter Sandman” finally reached the Billboard Global 200 for the first time just last week. The tally opened at No. 182 on the chart company’s ranking of the most consumed songs worldwide. The list, which was introduced in 2020, blends both sales and streaming data to paint a picture of what humanity is listening to. This frame, the tune steps up three spaces to No. 179, which now stands as its loftiest placement yet.
Metallica’s Limited Global Chart Success
Metallica has only scored a pair of hits on the Billboard Global 200. In July 2022, “Master of Puppets” debuted and then went on to reach its all-time high of No. 20. It still stands not only as the group’s highest-rising win, but also its longest-charting, as it has racked up four times as many stays on the global ranking as “Enter Sandman” has thus far.
“Enter Sandman” Benefits From Increased Sales
Looking at the U.S.-based charts, the Metallica smash climbs on two rankings focused solely on pure purchases. The track nearly returns to No. 1 on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart, as it vaults from No. 5 to No. 2. At the same time, it narrowly misses re-entering the top 10 on the Rock Digital Song Sales chart, landing at No. 11, up from No. 13.
The cut is also a winner on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, as “Enter Sandman” holds steady at No. 3 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart, its all-time best showing.
