According to Yonhap News Agency, both artists met with fans and journalists at a ceremony marking their discharge in Chuncheon, located around 50 miles northeast of Seoul.
At the ceremony, RM greeted fans with a saxophone performance and said he was “grateful” that the band’s fans “waited for us,” adding that he is eager to return to the stage soon.
V said he wants to “run to” the band’s fans—who refer to themselves as ARMY—“as soon as possible,” but urged them to “wait just a little longer” for a full BTS reunion.
The duo was not joined by any other BTS members at the ceremony as officials reportedly wanted to avoid overcrowding and other safety issues.

Key Background
BTS, which is the most commercially successful musical act to emerge from Korea, has been on a hiatus for two-and-a-half years as its members worked to complete their mandatory military service requirement. Under South Korean law, all able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 35 are required to serve in the country’s military for at least 18 months. Although there was a debate about exempting BTS from the requirement due to their global popularity, the band’s members eventually ended the debate on the matter by choosing to enlist. The band’s oldest member Jin enlisted in December 2022, J-Hope began his stint in April 2023 while Suga started his mandated social service work in September 2023. RM, V, Jimin, and Jung Kook were the last four to enlist in December 2023. Jin was the first BTS member to complete his mandatory military service in June last year.
