Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford’s Marvel movie Captain America: Brave New World is new on Disney+ this week.
The fourth Captain America film in Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe debuted in theaters on Feb. 14 and pivoted to digital streaming on April 15.
The logline for the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe chapter reads, “In Captain America: Brave New World, Sam (Mackie) finds himself in the middle of an international incident after meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross (Ford). He must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.”
Directed by Julius Onah, Captain America: Brave New World also stars Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Carl Lumbly, Xosha Roquemore, Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler and Tim Blake Nelson.
Per a YouTube announcement from Disney+ on May 13, Captain America: Brave New World will arrive on the streaming platform on Wednesday, May 28.
For viewers who don’t subscribe to the streaming service, the platform offers an ad-based Disney+ Basic plan for $9.99 per month and the ad-free Disney+ Premium plan for $15.99 per month or $159.99 per year.
Disney+ is also available in bundling packages with the Hulu and Max streaming services.
Anthony Mackie Says His Version Of Cap ‘Uses More Of His Brains Than Brawn’ In ‘Captain America: Brave New World’
Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson/Falcon handed the shield of Captain America from Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) at the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame in 2019 and began to transition into the role in the 2021 Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Captain America: Brave New World finds Wilson fully taking up the mantle of Cap, but noted at the Disney APAC Content Showcase in Singapore in November that there are distinct differences between Sam and Steve’s versions of the superhero.
Among them, the actor noted, is that Sam wasn’t given powers with the super soldier serum like his predecessor.
“It’s very different with the serum — you can fight anybody,” Mackie further noted at the showcase (via Deadline). “When you don’t have the serum, you have to be smart and engineer different ways of defeating [enemies]. With Sam, him being a counselor, he uses more of his brains than brawn. He uses more of his wit than his fist. He’s more of a friend to everyone.”
Captain America: Brave New World arrives on Disney+ on Wednesday.
