The week is now officially at its halfway mark. The weekend is rapidly approaching. Here we sit in the middle of it all with a grid laid out before us, words to uncover. Let’s roll up our sleeves and start digging!

Strands is the newest game in the New York Times’ stable of puzzle games. It’s a fun twist on classic word search games. Every day we’re given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board, revealing more about the rest of the words on the grid.

Spoilers ahead.

Today’s Strands Hints

Read on for today’s theme and some hints to help you uncover today’s words. Instead of giving you the first two letters of each word, today I’m giving out three hints instead of two.

Today’s Theme: Three’s a crowd

Hint: Four shalt thou not count. Four’s too many and five’s not allowed.

Clue: One is the loneliest number. You want company.

Today’s Strands Breakdown

This one took me awhile to start. Sometimes I swear I look at the grid and I see so many words, but not a single one that counts. Once I’d found PAIR and TWINS, however, it was open season. After MATCH I saw DOUBLE (heh) and when that didn’t work, I kept searching until I found DOUBLETROUBLE. From there on out, PARTNERS was an easy find, though I admit that TWOSOME and COUPLE were a bit tricky to uncover.
