Security firm SlowMist highlighted the malware’s role in replacing Bitcoin wallet addresses with those controlled by attackers. Yu Xian, Founder of SlowMist, remarked, “This printer’s official driver comes with backdoor code… which can hijack the wallet address in the user’s clipboard and replace it with the attacker’s own: 1BQZKqdp2CV3QV5nUEsqSglygegLmqRygJ.”

Infected drivers were uploaded to global cloud storage, compromising users in six months. The malware was first detected by a YouTuber during a UV printer test when antivirus software flagged the driver.
