Doechii’s “Anxiety,” originally released in 2019, becomes her first No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital … More
Doechii’s song “Anxiety” has taken one of the strangest of routes to becoming a chart-topper in the United States. While the tune feels brand new to many of the millions who have fallen in love with it throughout 2025, it was actually released years ago. Doechii, then a relatively unknown musician, dropped the track back in 2019, releasing it by herself, as she was not yet signed.
Now that it’s finally picking up steam, it has become not just a commercial success, but a ruler on several rankings. This week, it even brings the hip-hop superstar to the summit on one tally for the very first time.
Doechii’s First No. 1
“Anxiety” appears on more than a dozen Billboard lists this frame. It debuts on two of them, and in lofty positions.
The track enters at No. 3 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and conquers the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales roster, becoming an instant bestseller. As the cut launches, Doechii scores her first No. 1 hit on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales ranking.
Doechii Claims Multiple top 10 Bestsellers
Including “Anxiety,” the rapper has now pushed four tunes to that list, and three of them have entered the top 10. Before her first ruler, “Denial Is a River” stood as her highest-rising hit, as it peaked at No. 3. A different version of “Anxiety” — one led by hip-hop musician Sleepy Hallow which credits Doechii as a featured artist — climbed to No. 4 in March.
“What It Is (Block Boy)” with Kodak Black may be known as her breakout tune, as it brought her to this list for the first time in 2023, but it’s her lowest-peaking effort thus far. That track failed to crack the top 10, stalling at No. 12.
As “Anxiety” arrives, Doechii has also now scored a trio of top 10s on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
“Anxiety” is Also a Radio No. 1
“Anxiety,” which is built around a sample of “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye and Kimbra, also proves itself to be a real radio hit. It controls the Rhythmic Airplay chart for another frame. At the same time, the growing cut rises to new peaks on both the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and Pop R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay tallies.
