Blackpink’s Lisa confirms new music is coming soon, as the group gears up for a global tour that may … More
Blackpink fans can rest a bit easier today, knowing that the South Korean girl group is working on new music. The band — one of the most successful all-female acts in K-pop history — has managed to develop an incredible track record, despite having only released two full-lengths so far. As the outfit prepares for an upcoming global tour, many have expected new music to arrive, and while there hasn’t been a major announcement, one of the four members has now offered a soft confirmation that something exciting is in the works.
“Actually, we were in the studio a few days ago,” Lisa shared with Variety. The singer and rapper, who was promoting a new collection with Bose, didn’t reveal too much more, but that hint is surely enough to thrill millions of longtime listeners all around the globe.
When asked about an upcoming album, Lisa added, “You have to be patient about it. It’s coming soon, I promise.” By the time a new full-length from Blackpink does arrive, it may have been nearly three years since the group’s last complete release. The band has only shared two full-lengths to date: 2021’s The Album and Born Pink, which dropped in September 2022. Both were massive commercial successes, with the latter becoming Blackpink’s first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the U.S., while its predecessor stalled in the runner-up position.
Blackpink is set to begin its global tour in July, kicking things off in its home country of South Korea. From there, the outfit will visit cities across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. After a months-long break — perhaps to support a new release — the tour resumes in January 2026 with a trio of concerts in Tokyo.
While Blackpink has been fairly quiet as a group recently, the members have stayed busy. In the past several months, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa have each released solo collections. Three of those climbed into the top 10 on the Billboard 200, and most of the singers have landed hits on the Hot 100 and earned major radio success.
The most successful of the bunch has been Rosé, whose Bruno Mars collaboration “Apt.” has rewritten the rules regarding what female K-pop soloists can achieve on the Billboard charts. The tune rose to No. 1 on the Pop Airplay chart and stands as the highest-rising solo cut by any female artist from the genre on the Hot 100.
