Now, with Trump’s return, digital assets are no longer a niche interest—they’re a centerpiece of national policy.
One of the loudest crypto advocates in Congress is Senator Dave McCormick, a former Bridgewater Associates CEO. He’s made hefty investments—over $1 million—into the Bitwise Spot Bitcoin ETF, including a notable buy just days before Trump unveiled plans for a national Bitcoin reserve. The ETF, trading around $51 with daily volume near $58 million, now ranks sixth in total assets, managing $3.65 billion.
McCormick’s bullish stance earned him support from Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and may have helped tip the scales in his tight race. He’s described 2025 as a breakout year for digital finance, tying crypto’s future to economic growth and national defense.
Other lawmakers are jumping in, too. Marjorie Taylor Greene has disclosed holdings in another Bitcoin ETF, while Senator Steve Daines, once exposed to several crypto funds, has since divested. What was once a fringe topic is now a core feature of the American political landscape.
