Rosé and Bruno Mars’ “Apt.” hits 25 weeks on the Digital Song Sales chart, surpassing BTS’s “Butter” … More
Rosé’s single “Apt.” has been a hit from the moment it was released, and several months after it dropped, it’s still a huge win in the United States. The track, which pairs the Blackpink member with Bruno Mars, has remained a favorite among American listeners, racking up thousands of digital sales, a huge number of streams, and steady airplay each frame. This week, as it continues to perform well, the collaboration breaks a tie and claims a special spot in the history books.
Rosé’s “Apt.” is Still a Bestseller
This frame, “Apt.” holds onto its position inside the top 10 on the Digital Song Sales chart, Billboard’s weekly ranking of the bestselling individual tracks in the U.S. The cut keeps at No. 10, where it sat last time around.
In the latest tracking period, the tune sold just over 3,100 copies, according to Luminate. That sum is down a bit from the prior period, but not enough to knock it out of the top tier. “Apt.” has now spent 25 weeks on the chart. That’s almost half a year of consistent sales, which is a milestone that very few K-pop releases have managed to hit on this specific tally.
Rosé’s Hit Surpasses BTS’s “Butter”
As “Apt.” collects its twenty-fifth stay on the Digital Song Sales chart, it officially breaks a tie with BTS’ “Butter,” which spent 24 weeks on the ranking during its run. The Rosé/Mars collab now ranks as the third-longest-charting track by a K-pop act on the list.
While Rosé is known for working outside of strict genre lines — “Apt.” itself doesn’t follow traditional K-pop structures or sound — her roots in the space are undeniable. Even “Apt.” does see her singing in both English and Korean. As one-fourth of Blackpink, her musical identity is intertwined with the K-pop style, so she’s usually considered a member of that part of the music industry.
Only BTS and Psy Have Held On Longer
Only two tracks by K-pop artists have spent more time on the Digital Song Sales chart. The all-time leader is BTS’ “Dynamite,” which racked up 34 appearances on the list. Just behind that is Psy’s viral smash “Gangnam Style,” which held on for 32 weeks — a record it maintained for years before “Dynamite” came along and dethroned it.
To match Psy’s total, “Apt.” would need to continue selling well for at least another month and a half. Whether that happens remains to be seen, but the fact that it’s still sitting inside the top 10 this late into its run is a very encouraging sign.
“Apt.” Remains a Radio Favorite
Even if “Apt.” were to fall off the Digital Song Sales chart tomorrow, it has already proven itself as a true success story. Beyond pure purchases, the tune continues to perform well on all three of Billboard’s pop radio-focused rankings, even holding on inside the top 10 on all but one of them.
