WWE WrestleMania 41 Night One started with a bang when Jey Uso won the World Heavyweight Championship, but ended with an even bigger one: Seth Rollins turning heel and joining forces with Paul Heyman.
WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels appeared in an on-stage segment to reveal a sold-out attendance of more than 61,000 fans, and those fans witnessed an up-and-down show that at times felt more like a Raw or SmackDown than a WrestleMania. Amid the major moments like Uso’s title victory and Heyman’s epic betrayal of Roman Reigns and CM Punk, there was a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows.
Below are full quick results for Night One of WrestleMania 41 from Allegiant Stadium:
- Jey Uso defeated Gunther via submission to win the World Heavyweight Championship.
- The New Day beat The War Raiders to become the World Tag Team Champions.
- Jade Cargill defeated Naomi via Jaded.
- Jacob Fatu beat LA Knight to win the United States Championship.
- El Grande Americano defeated Rey Fenix.
- Tiffany Stratton beat Charlotte Flair to retain the WWE Women’s Championship.
- Seth Rollins defeated Roman Reigns and CM Punk.
And now, l’s take a look at the biggest highlights and takeaways from WWE WrestleMania 41 Night One on Saturday.
Jey Uso Rightfully Beats Gunther To Win WWE World Heavyweight Championship
A small but very vocal minority of WWE fans were questioning whether Jey Uso was the right man to win the Royal Rumble and/or dethrone Gunther.
Well, anyone who watched Uso defeat Gunther in the opening match of WrestleMania 41 can see that it was. Uso’s epic entrance featured more than 61,000 fans chanting and dancing along with him, and less than half an hour later, they did exactly the same when he became the first man to tap out Gunther on WWE’s main roster.
Uso pulled off a number of Gunther’s moves, including a powerbomb and sleeper submission, in what was a simple but effective story: to beat Gunther, be him. Although questions will remain about Uso’s ability to carry Raw as World Heavyweight Champion, Paul Heyman recently shed some light on Usos’ incredible drawing power, noting both that he’s a top three ticket draw and merchandise mover.
Over the past several months, Uso has proved that he deserves to be mentioned among WWE’s top stars, and after his massive win over Gunther, he’s here to stay. Like it or not.
The New Day Win Tag Titles At WrestleMania 41, But Badly Need A Major Feud
As expected, The New Day defeated The War Raiders to become the World Tag Team Champions, but their win came to very little reaction from the crowd.
This rivalry certainly didn’t feel like a WrestleMania one, playing out over the past several weeks without many compelling segments or moments. WWE WrestleMania 41 was more of the same, with the fans inside Allegiant Stadium nearly silent for most of the bout and even for Kofi Kingston’s underhanded assist that helped Xavier Woods get the win.
The good news, though, is that Kingston and Woods proved since their heel turn in December 2024 that they can be Raw’s top tag team once again if given the chance. This marks their 12th tag team title reign on the main roster and 13th overall, and at a time when Raw’s tag division is poorly booked, the all-time great duo is the right team to lead the charge.
That being said, The New Day will be fighting an uphill battle after losing plenty of steam over the past month or so.
Jade Cargill Defeats Naomi, But Where Do They Go From Here?
The problem with Jade Cargill beating Naomi right out of the gate is that the babyface has essentially already overcome the heel.
So, that begs the question: Is their rivalry already over? That, of course, seems unlikely given that this feud has been an incredibly heated one spanning a few months. Therefore, the best way to keep things interesting is for Naomi to continuously seek her revenge on Cargill in the weeks ahead.
As Bianca Belair, who’s been a key focus in this rivalry, continues to generate heel-like crowd reactions, perhaps a reunion with Naomi as a villainous duo makes sense. Either way, there do not appear to be many other compelling paths for either Cargill or Naomi to take after WrestleMania 41 that don’t involve each other.
Expect Naomi to target Cargill on this week’s SmackDown and keep their heated rivalry going.
Jacob Fatu Wins First Title Against LA Knight, Proves The Sky Is The Limit
If there was every any doubt about Jacob Fatu, he proved his doubters wrong at WWE WrestleMania Saturday.
Fatu toppled LA Knight to win the United States Championship, his first singles title in WWE, in what was a shockingly good back-and-forth encounter. Amid dueling chants of “Let’s Go, Fatu!” and “L-A-Knight!”, two of SmackDown’s biggest stars showed up and showed out inside Allegiant Stadium.
In the end, Fatu one with a barrage of incredibly impressive top rope moonsaults, and the Las Vegas crowd absolutely ate up everything that he did. That has been the case throughout 2025 for Fatu, who is quickly emerging as one of the most must-see performers in all of WWE.
Fatu can work with a wide variety of opponents, generates organic reactions every week and has a believable character. While he’s now the new US Champion, it’d be a shocker if he isn’t the world champion sooner rather than later.
Rey Fenix Losing WWE WrestleMania Debut To El Grande Americano Was A Questionable Decision
Rey Fenix stepped in as a last-minute replacement for the injured Rey Mysterio mere weeks after his WWE debut, and he did so just to lose.
The El Grande Americano gimmick has its fair share of detractors, and rightfully so. Thus, when Fenix was announced as Mysterio’s fill-in, there was widespread hope that Fenix, arguably the world’s greatest luchador, would get the victory to cement himself as a star to watch in WWE.
Instead, Americano one with a steel plate-aided hit to the head, meaning that Fenix lost under controversial circumstances. While, yes, WWE did try to protect Fenix in defeat, this was one of the most important days for Lucha Libre in regards to its relationship with WWE, which just announced it had purchased AAA, a Lucha Libre promotion based out of Mexico.
Especially on today of all days, the legitimate luchador Fenix should have won. Not the stereotypical gimmick ripoff, El Grande Americano.
Tiffany Stratton Must Move On From Charlotte Flair After WWE WrestleMania 41 Win
Tiffany Stratton beat Charlotte Flair in a good, not great, match that never quite hit that second gear but did have some fantastic heat and generate a strong crowd reaction.
Given the legitimate issues between the two stars, the bout should have felt more personal and come across more like a fight. Instead, it was another OK moment in a feud that has overall been wildly disappointing. Marred by odd promo segments and a general lack of chemistry, Stratton vs. Flair underwhelmed and underdelivered.
With Stratton beating Flair clean at WrestleMania 41, that would theoretically end this rivalry once and for all. Flair, after all, lost fair and square, so she has no real claim to a rematch. Then again, it’s Charlotte Flair we’re talking about here, which means an instant rematch can’t totally be counted out.
But if WWE brass has learned anything about Stratton and Flair over the past two months, it’s that sometimes two stars, no matter how good individually, just don’t mix.
It’s time to move on.
Seth Rollins Aligning With Paul Heyman Is Right Choice
WWE WrestleMania 41 Saturday’s main event had all the makings of a classic, and the spectacular match ended in even more spectacular fashion.
Paul Heyman blasted CM Punk with a low blow, which wasn’t all that surprising, but then he did exactly the same to Roman Reigns. In mere minutes, Heyman betrayed his two closest friends, and it became clear why he did it: Heyman had planned this with Seth Rollins all along.
In recent weeks, Rollins did indeed appear to be up to something, and all along, he was scheming behind the scenes with Heyman. The timing of Rollins’ turn and alignment couldn’t be more perfect, either. Punk, a beloved babyface, doesn’t need Heyman while Reigns’ pairing with Heyman has run its course.
Enter Rollins, who’s been long overdue for a heel turn and is the perfect smarmy villain to be paired with Heyman. WWE needed a storyline hook coming out of WrestleMania 41 Saturday, and boy, did it get one.
Rollins as a heel with Heyman by his side? That should carry WWE’s major feuds well into 2026.
