Key Facts
Tate will likely face a three-week trial in the United Kingdom in 2027, Judge Richard Armstrong said at a High Court hearing on Tuesday, multiple news outlets reported.
Tate’s case concerns a lawsuit filed by four women who accused Tate of sexual and physical abuse in alleged instances between 2013 and 2015, all of which Tate has denied.
Anne Studd, a lawyer representing the four women, reportedly said at the hearing this case is the first of its kind, as it is the first time “coercive control” would be brought before the United Kingdom’s High Court in a civil trial.
Studd defined “coercive control” as “a form of grooming and manipulation where the victim becomes less and less able to respond in what might be perceived as a normal way” in a written submission to the court, Reuters reported.
Tate did not attend the hearing and intends to bring evidence in his defense at trial, his lawyer Vanessa Marshall said, according to Reuters.

Did Donald Trump Help Andrew Tate Return To The U.s.?
The Financial Times reported President Donald Trump’s administration pressured Romanian officials to ease a travel ban imposed on Tate after his arrest in the country, though Trump later told reporters he knew “nothing” about their arrival in Florida in February. Tate has repeatedly praised Trump on his social media accounts, and in one post, he compared himself to the president, claiming both he and Trump have been accused of sex crimes and “vilified by old recordings making jokes,” an apparent reference to Trump’s Access Hollywood tape controversy. Members of Trump’s inner circle have also voiced support for Tate, including Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., who called Tate’s Romanian detention “absolute insanity.”
Where Are The Tate Brothers Living Now?
The Tates are in Dubai, according to multiple reports and recent posts from Tate on X. A spokesperson for the Tates told The Telegraph earlier this month they had traveled to Dubai for a “leisure visit” and will return to Romania within two months to comply with court orders amid their ongoing case. The brothers had previously returned to Romania following a month-long stay in the United States in late March to report to authorities.
What Is Tate Accused Of In His U.k. Case?
Four women filed a civil lawsuit against Tate last year alleging physical and sexual abuse, allegations Tate has denied. Documents filed in court last week detailed these allegations, multiple outlets reported, describing incidents between 2013 and 2015 concerning two women who were in romantic relationships with Tate, and two who worked for a webcam sex business he ran. One woman alleged Tate pointed a gun in her face and said, “You’re going to do as I say or there’ll be hell to pay,” BBC reported. One woman alleged Tate threatened to kill her, while another woman accused him of stating he would kill anyone who spoke to her. Two of the women accused Tate of raping them, and all four accused him of choking them, two of whom said they developed red spots in their eyes, indicating burst capillaries.
Where Else Is Tate Under Investigation?
Tate was charged with human trafficking, rape and organized criminal activity in Romania in 2023 along with his brother, Tristan Tate, and two Romanian women. Prosecutors accused Tate of conspiring with his brother and the women of recruiting and trafficking women, and then forcing them to make pornographic content. Prosecutors began investigating new allegations last year that the trafficking involved minors. The Romanian case was initially set to go to trial, but a judge ruled the case did not meet trial standards in December and sent the indictment back to prosecutors. Tate is also under an unspecified criminal investigation in Florida, where he and his brother made a brief stay after a Romanian travel ban was lifted. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier did not specify what suspected crimes Tate is under investigation for, though he said in a statement the investigation is a “preliminary inquiry” and that Florida has “zero tolerance for people who abuse women and girls.” Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., said upon their arrival the Tate brothers are not welcome in the state. The brothers may also be under federal investigation in the United States, according to a court filing from a lawyer representing women the Tates sued for defamation in Florida. In the filing, the lawyer asked to pause the case “until the United States federal investigation and/or prosecution by the Department of Justice for the Southern District of New York of Andrew and Tristan Tate has concluded.” Forbes has reached out to the Department of Justice for comment.
Key Background
Tate first rose to fame as a contestant on the U.K. version of “Big Brother” and as a professional kickboxer. He pivoted to becoming an influencer, amassing nearly 11 million followers on X, where he frequently espouses his self-described misogynistic world view and uses various racial and homophobic slurs. Tate runs online programs he advertises as “educational,” though a BBC investigation found these programs allegedly teach men to groom women.
