In a fiery address touching on both domestic industry and global conflicts, former President Donald Trump laid out sweeping promises for the future of the United States, vowing to usher in a “golden age” of prosperity while positioning himself as the world’s top peace broker.
Trump announced that American-made products would be exempt from future tariffs, directly encouraging manufacturers to bring operations back to the U.S. “If you make your product in America, you won’t pay tariffs,” he declared, singling out Elon Musk’s vehicles as an example of what he envisions for the country’s industrial revival. He emphasized his commitment to bringing automobile production back home, saying that “a lot of car companies” are now being encouraged to shift operations to the U.S.
The former president also revealed plans to impose new tariffs on key industries such as semiconductors, automobiles, and pharmaceuticals within the next month. He reiterated his stance on reciprocal tariffs: “If they tariff us, we will tariff them.”
On foreign policy, Trump claimed credit for a ceasefire in Gaza and said hostages were being returned under U.S.-led negotiations. Turning to the war in Ukraine, he stated that he had personally spoken with both Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, and that peace talks are now underway in Saudi Arabia. He praised Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for facilitating what he described as “historic” discussions, and said even Putin admitted Trump could bring an end to the conflict.
However, he was sharply critical of Zelensky, accusing him of corruption and authoritarianism. Trump alleged that $350 billion in U.S. support was wasted in an unwinnable war and that Europe—despite contributing far less—will have its aid reimbursed while American taxpayers see nothing in return. He also claimed that Zelensky has refused to hold elections and labeled him “a dictator.”
“I love Ukraine, but Zelensky has done a terrible job,” Trump said, adding that the Ukrainian leader “played Joe Biden like a fiddle.”
On global stability, Trump warned that the world is closer to World War III than most realize, stating that if the previous administration had remained in power, the war might already be underway.
Despite the grave warnings, Trump ended on an optimistic note, predicting an economic resurgence and an era of innovation. “The golden age in America is upon us,” he said, promising soaring markets, booming manufacturing, and major breakthroughs. “We will soon have the greatest economy again.”
He concluded by expressing hope that his legacy would be defined not by conflict but by diplomacy: “I hope to be remembered as a peacemaker and a unifier.”
