SEC’s Cryptocurrency Special Working Group to Host Roundtable on Regulatory Clarity for Bitcoin

This initial gathering, titled “How We Got Here, and How We Can Get Out — Defining the Securities Characteristics,” will take place at the SEC headquarters in Washington, D.C. on March 21st, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. The session will feature a panel of twelve legal experts and academics who will engage with the SEC’s task force to dissect the nuances of regulatory frameworks surrounding the crypto industry.

This roundtable is part of a broader initiative called “Spring Forward: Moving Toward Clarity in Cryptocurrency Regulation,” aiming to promote transparency and establish a cohesive regulatory environment. SEC Commissioner Hester M. Peirce emphasized the importance of public engagement in shaping effective regulations for cryptocurrency. Notably, the proceedings will be live-streamed on the SEC’s official website, ensuring accessibility and fostering public insight into the regulatory process.
