Funding the Purchase: Convertible Bond Offering

The recent Bitcoin acquisition was financed through the proceeds of a $2 billion zero-coupon convertible bond offering. These bonds, maturing in 2030, can be converted into equity at an initial rate of $433.43 per share. This move aligns with Strategy’s broader plan to raise $21 billion in equity and $21 billion in fixed-income instruments over the next three years, aiming to further bolster its cryptocurrency holdings.

Michael Saylor’s Vision: Bitcoin’s Future Potential

Michael Saylor, Executive Chairman of Strategy Inc., has been a vocal advocate for Bitcoin’s potential as a primary store of value. He predicts that Bitcoin could reach a price of $13 million by 2045, attributing this potential growth to increased adoption by investors and lower volatility. Saylor emphasizes the strategic importance of Bitcoin, advocating for the U.S. to acquire a significant portion of the network to maintain leadership in the digital economy.
