In a shocking development reported by the Chicago Tribune, six individuals have been charged in connection with an alleged kidnapping incident involving a family of three and their nanny in Chicago. The suspects reportedly coerced their victims into transferring a staggering $15 million in cryptocurrency. According to a recently unsealed FBI affidavit, the kidnappers feigned a damaged garage door to gain entry into the victims’ home, subsequently brandishing firearms during the home invasion.
The perpetrators demanded a ransom exclusively in Bitcoin and other digital currencies. Remarkably, one victim managed to contact his father via WeChat, revealing critical details about the dire situation. The six suspects were officially charged on December 13th, with one, identified as 34-year-old Weizehan, apprehended on January 17th while attempting to return to the U.S. from Mexico. The remaining suspects, including Zhang Fan, Yan Huajing, Jiang Shengnan, Lian Shiqiang, and Cao Ye, are believed to have fled to China amid ongoing investigations.
