Ethereum-Bitcoin Price Ratio Drops to Lowest Level Since 2021! Here Are the Details

Ethereum’s native cryptocurrency, Ethereum (ETH), is lagging behind its rivals as President Donald Trump’s foray into the memecoin market has given support to rival blockchains like Solana.

Trump Memecoins Spark Solana Surge

According to Bloomberg data, the Ethereum-Bitcoin price ratio fell to its lowest level since 2021, while Bitcoin reached a record high of $109,241. Meanwhile, Solana’s native token hit new highs over the weekend, driven by frenzied memecoin trading on its network.

The rally in Solana was fueled by two memecoins launched on the blockchain ahead of the inauguration by Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. As reported by CoinMarketCap, the “Trump” memecoin briefly reached a market value of $15 billion over the weekend before experiencing sharp volatility.

“Ether has definitely been a loser in the recent memecoin wave, as most of the largest memecoins emerged in the Solana ecosystem,” said Le Shi, general manager of market-making firm Auros in Hong Kong.

Solana has branded itself an “Ethereum killer” and has increasingly become a go-to platform for memecoin launches, attracting speculative investors. On Sunday, the Solana-to-Ether price ratio hit an all-time high as traders flocked to Trump’s tokens.

Ether has struggled to capitalize on the crypto market’s recent gains. The token is up 39% over the past 12 months but remains around 30% below its 2021 peak. In comparison, Bitcoin is up 156% and Solana is up 180% over the same period.

Bitcoin-focused exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have attracted net inflows of over $17 billion in the past three months, compared to just $3 billion for Ethereum-focused ETFs, according to Bloomberg data.

“There is a perception in the market that Ether has not experienced any new, exciting developments and has therefore stagnated,” Shi said.
