The Graph (GRT), a blockchain data indexing protocol, has launched Geo Genesis, a new app that allows users to curate and share Web3 knowledge, as reported to Finbold on Thursday, January 9.
Prioritizing accessibility, Geo Genesis is expected to make Web3 accessible even to inexperienced users and encourage wider participation in decentralized ecosystems.
As such, the launch signals a shift from asset-based to knowledge-centric apps, showcasing the protocol’s steady focus on decentralized collaboration.
Geo Genesis Spaces
Central to the Geo Genesis design are the so-called Spaces, collaborative hubs where users and whole communities can gather to manage and govern knowledge collectively.
Spaces are built on the modular Aragon OSx framework, which allows for scalable decentralized governance.
In the future, Spaces will also offer fully customizable governance processes.
This approach aims to promote interconnected knowledge while aligning the platform with Web3 principles such as verifiability, openness, and composability.
Web3 knowledge graphs
Yaniv Tal, The Graph co-founder and leading Geo Genesis developer, described Web3 as fundamentally about information.
As the company’s latest development, Geo Genesis embodies this stance as a platform where knowledge is organized into interconnected knowledge graphs.
The GRC-20 standard plays a crucial role in this organization, enhancing interoperability, adaptability, and composability of knowledge across decentralized applications (dApps).
Geo Genesis early access
Geo Genesis is now in early access, featuring the default governance framework characterized by two key roles: Editors (i.e., those who vote on governance matters) and Members (i.e., those who contribute to their Space).
During the early access phase, communities can request invites to start building their own Spaces or explore those already available in the knowledge graph.
In addition, there is an initial group of Editors working on delivering cryptocurrency news to illustrate how knowledge graphs can structure stories more effectively.
As mentioned, communities will gain full customization capabilities in the near future, paving the way for an even more decentralized and collaborative platform.
