AGI, Workforce Joining by 2025

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has revealed that in 2025, we may see the first AI agents “join the workforce” which could substantially change corporate output. Celebrating the second anniversary of ChatGPT, Altman wrote in a blog, that he is confident he has mastered the method of building AGI (artificial general intelligence).

Altman celebrated that the firm which was ‘once a small research lab’ has grown into a dynamic organization with over 300 million weekly active users, up from 100 million just a year ago.

As per Sam Altman’s blog, OpenAI’s early ambitions were focused on developing AGI as a transformative technology for humanity; the company anticipates the first AI agents entering the workforce by 2025.

“Iteratively putting great tools in the hands of people leads to great, broadly distributed outcomes,” said Altman, emphasizing the firm’s gradual deployment and learning from real-world feedback.

Altman also touched upon the ‘governance challenges’ faced by the firm, particularly during a highly publicized leadership crisis that underscored the importance of trust, diverse perspectives, and strong decision-making frameworks. He believes that OpenAI has since emerged from the episode more cohesive and determined, with a renewed focus on its mission to ensure that AGI benefits all of humanity.

While workforce integration is a significant step, OpenAI’s ultimate vision extends further to the development of superintelligent systems capable of tackling challenges that remain beyond human capabilities. The company, as the CEO noted, envisions these tools massively speeding up scientific discovery, innovation, and global prosperity.

Altman wrote, “Superintelligent tools could massively accelerate scientific discovery and innovation well beyond what we are capable of doing on our own, and in turn massively increase abundance and prosperity.”

Reflecting on OpenAI’s journey, Sam Altman also expressed deep gratitude for the dedication of its team, partners, and supporters who have enabled its progress.
